David, hearts all over the world will be with you in spirit tonight, a very special night.
David tweeted after the concert:
Had such a great, great last show tonight in Beaver Creek! Thank you everyone who came to the shows! Hope you all had a good time!
Chains being put on the tires of the tour bus so we can try and get to Denver! Wish us luck!
Safe travel to David and all of you!

Live blogging the Beaver Creek show:
David said he would never stop doing music, even on his mission. He’s just putting the career part on hold.
He said this is the favorite tour he’s ever done because there were so many obstacles & people trying to stop them. And because it means so much …
Also said he already knows where he will be serving his mission but wants to keep it private for right now.
David did Waiting on the World to Change acoustic with Jeff LeBlanc. It was AMAZING.
There were 2 encore songs. WOTWTC and Little Drummer Boy. idk if anyone got vids. Camera security was crazy.
Like, you couldn’t even take pictures. Even with your phone. Maybe somebody in the middle of a row got something?? Nothing from me.
Seeing & hearing David tonight was incredible. He seemed so happy when he talked briefly about his mission. And how he always will do music.
a big group of us in the audience had maracas to shake during Fa Lalalalalala. D didn’t notice at first then he was like whaaaat haha
They are being super strict on cameras bigtime:((((((
He sang Waiting on the world to change! EPIC
Ave Maria was magnificent. He talked about watching a video about Mother Mary, and the importance of motherhood
I’ve never seen David so smiley. He was sincerely appreciative of the love from fans.
We sang a song for David in VIP to let him know how much we adore him & support him. It was set to “I’ll Be There” but we changed the words to suit the occasion. David was very touched and everyone in VIP sounded AMAZING singing it. We have it on video. Everyone told David exactly what they wanted to tell David at VIP & there were lots of hugs & special moments. David sang the VIP songs then “I’m Trying to Be Like Jesus“. It was hard to not cry your eyes out for that. It was so emotional and David lives every word of that song every day. It was beautiful! He answered questions… he already knows where he is going on his Mission but wants to keep in a bit private for now, but he said he knows it will impact him when he is there and when he gets home as well. David explained some of his favorite parts of tour. He was very chatty! And just presh!
The show was a blast! The band came over w/ the kids during Fa La La La & D asked them all their names. They all answered D in funny voices. David was so funny! Jeff & Stix also came out w/ Santa hats on & played guitar during Fa La La as a joke! D was like o.O !! But it was so funny! D & Jeff singing WOTWTC was HOLY SMOKES… so smooth! They sounded fantastic together! We had Morocca’s in the audience during Fa La La song & D thought that was silly too. We sang Happy Bday to D during VIP & we all had on Spongebob Hats! Cute girls in the audience screamed during a quiet time … “WE LOVE YOU ELDER” … D laughed pretty hard at that. We cracked up. I LOVE This Christmas songs. The audience was great. Looked like lots of families.
D was so sweet & took pics & signed things at the bus right after the show. The highlight of MY night was I actually asked D for a hug during VIP and he said “of course”. I told him when I was hugging him that I knew he would be great and how happy I was for him that he was going on his Mission. I just really wanted him to know that. It was so nice. The other highlight was D singing I’m Trying to Be Like Jesus. I can’t explain the feeling in the room… I am just so proud to be his fan.

Time to share what happened at my VIP lol. I did fine for 2.5 seconds until the pic was done. Then I tried to say that I wanted him to know, on behalf of all the fans who could not be there how much he was loved and how very very proud they were of him. I actually said the words, but I was crying big time and my voice was just a squeak he said aww thanks! I had given him a hug when I first walked up to him, but I was really weeping like an idiot and he said Aw you’re making me get all emotional and I said I was sorry for crying like an idiot and he said: It was all right. That he had been pretty emotional since the announcement. And he gave me the best hug probably hoping I would stop blubbering lol. Anyway he was very sweet and for those of you who asked I told him he was loved and you were very very proud.

David has chosen to serve a full-time mission- This means he will be sent abroad (or possibly somewhere in the United States) to proselytize his faith. He’ll have limited contact with family and friends, a strict schedule and will wear the traditional dress clothes of a missionary.
Mormon.org describes the missionary’s experience: “During their two years of full time service they devote themselves to studying, meeting people and teaching about Jesus Christ and His restored Church.” (Source)
The reaction on the Internet has been enormous.
From Rolling Stone to USA Today to CNN, Us Weekly and the International Business Times, it seems everybody’s talking about “Archie.”
The Washington Post included the video of the “sweet-faced” singer in its entertainment section. The Christian Science Monitor reported that Archuleta will “join (the) Mormon mission.”
Most of the articles describe the joyous reaction of the Salt Lake City audience and quote Archuleta’s reasoning for going.
“It’s not because someone told me I was supposed to do it and not because I no longer want to do music anymore,” Archuleta said. “It’s what I feel I need to do next in my life.”
User comments vary, of course, but many readers on each of these sites are supportive of the singing star taking a break from show biz to dedicate the time to his faith. (Source)

Masterclass Lady had some lovely words about David:
David Archuleta To Embark On A Two Year Mission For The Mormon Church
Not only does David Archuleta have the voice of an angel, but he also embodies the spirit of one.
At the end of his outstanding performance in Salt Lake City, David made a very special announcement (see the above video) – that he was going to embark on a two-year mission for the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints.
David became overwhelmed with emotion when he made his announcement:
“It’s not because somebody told me that I was supposed to do it, not because that I no longer want to do music anymore, but it’s because it’s the feeling that I felt that I need to do next in my life.”
I have to say I wasn’t totally surprised. After meeting David during the American Idol Season Seven summer tour, I mentioned to my family that something very special was happening with David – beyond music.
His spirituality and introspective nature was just so tangible. He seemed to be seeing and capturing an essence that others could not visualize. The world that he created for himself was a very special one and now we know why.
It is important in life to understand your instincts and prioritize what is really important. It makes for a meaningful, solid and truly successful road as a human being.
I congratulate and applaud David for his impeccable taste and lifestyle choices. He may not have won that American Idol title, but sure as I’m standing here, he is the epitome of one.
The video below captures both his announcement and his final number in the “My Kind Of Christmas” tour stop in Salt Lake City. It is truly beautiful – in fact probably the most beautiful version I have ever heard.
And, interestingly enough, the audible breathing that is the result of David’s vocal cord paralysis, was barely evident in this number. All one could hear was the passionate glory of his gorgeous and expressive voice.
