David Archuleta accepted TV5 deal for love of Pinoy fans

MANILA, Philippines – David Archuleta accepted the TV5 series out of love for his Filipino fans, all of whom, he said, have been very supportive of him through the years.

“Even though I may not be a [professional] actor, I thought this [acting stint] would be a really great new experience to try. Especially in the Philippines because I feel very comfortable with the people and I feel the fans here are very warm,” he explained in a recent press conference.

Archuleta arrived Jan. 13 and will be staying in the country for the next three weeks. Already, he is looking forward to having fun here.

“ I always have a blast when I come [here], so [for me], it’s always fun when I come to the Philippines,” he said.

“I feel comfortable here. The people are very friendly and they’re very supportive.”

David will play Josh!

From Philstar:

David will deliver bilingual dialogue (English mixed with a few Tagalog words) in his role as a Fil-Am singer in search of his mother.
Josh spends five years in the Philippines before going to the US
Josh understands tagalog but doesn’t speak it too well

From interaksyon:

He will play Josh, who is an international singer of Fil-Am lineage.

Josh was born and raised in the Philippines until he was five years old and when he lost his mother in a hotel fire.

Josh returns to the Philippines to find out what really happened to his mother as well as find out who was the little girl he encountered during the fire.

Since Josh is Fil-Am, Archuleta will be delivering his lines in English.

Also, David “will attend a story conference (set for today), record the theme song and do pictorials. And then he starts shooting the next day.”

Fearing that David would be mobbed during the mostly outdoor shoot, TV5 offered to assign a few bodyguards to him but David declined.

“He arrived with only one companion,” added Perci. “Walang entourage.”

After the shoot, David said that he wouldn’t be doing any other showbiz-related projects since he would buckle down to his mission to serve God.

“I made the promise even before I decided to come to the Philippines,” assured David.
