First, American Idol 10 news:

Tonight the Top 12 girls of AI took the stage. And guess what, Haley Reinhart sang “Fallin” by Alicia Keyes. David sang this song on Star Search when he was like 12. Haley’s not bringing anything new to this song. I like young David’s version much better.

Wishing that David will sing ‘Fallin” again some day.

Mark Mejia was on Star Search 2004 with David. Mark emerged the GRAND CHAMPION for the Junior Singer Category.

David just tweeted Mark. It seemed that they’re happy to hear from each other.

This is Mark’s beautiful rendition of Jackson Five’s ‘”Got to Be There” on Star Search 2004. David is shown at the beginning of the clip, so cute! (I wanna pinch his cheek lol)

At Star Search, the 12 years old boy belting out the soul outta “Who’s Lovin’ You” to the amazement of Arsenio Hall. This is where he earned the monicker “The Soul Man from Utah”. Aside from the performance, this video includes the comments (I like Hilary Duff’s) and the results.

Interesting facts:

  • On the finals of the 2nd Season of Star Search, David scored a perfect 20 points from all three judges.
  • The actual date David won Star Search was March 19, 2003.
  • By winning the Junior Singers competition on Star Search, David won $100,000.00
  • As soon as the Archuleta Family returned to Utah, 10% or $10,000.00 was tithed to their church.
  • When David started on Star Search, he already started showing symptoms of bronchitis, which would later lead to his vocal paralysis when he reached the age of 13 and 14. One of his vocal chords was paralyzed and underdeveloped. The doctors said he can have surgery, but it was very risky. He didn’t want to take the risk because he wanted to sing. He was actually supposed to record a CD after Star Search because of his big success there, but wasn’t able to due to his vocal paralysis.
