David recounts the Filipino foods he has already tasted:

The title of David’s upcoming TV5 mini-series is “Nandito Ako” meaning “I’m here for you”

David’s character name will be Josh with traits similar to himself. Even though his name will be different, they’ll see similarites to “David”.

He will be recording the song “Nandito Ako” written by Aaron Paul. David will sing a tagalog song!!!

David will be shooting in Batangas.

Is there a possibility of David falling in love with a Filipina? To this, he says “Never say never!”

After he returns from the Philippines he will record as much music as possible to release to the fans while he’s gone..for the fans.

He already has certain projects he’s planning IN MUSIC for after he returns from his mission!

He will try to find some opportunities to see the fans while in the Philippines.

Some of David’s favorite Filipino dishes are Tokwang Baboy, Sisig and Papaitan.

David talks about his mission and how it is a lot about “sacrifice. He knows that on the mission he will “grow a lot” as a person.

He only brought one person with him this time- “his manager” (@kariontour)

He realizes that it’s important to always live by the principles he grew up with, live by those same standards. He says “yes” to those things he believes in.

He talks about how much he values learning and education: “Education is something that people can’t take away from you”. Says he’s not the best at multi-tasking. Doesn’t just want to do education “on the side” even when given the opportunities.

“Music is what I love to do, it’s what I plan to do for the rest of my life!”

“Recording and performing..that’s who i am and that’s what I want to do”

On what moved him to accept the TV5?

David said, “I’ve never really done things with acting other than appear as myself and do cameo roles in TV shows like Hanna Montana or iCarly. But you know, I may not be this ‘pro-actor’ but I felt like it would be a really great new experience to try it and especially here in the Philippines because I just really feel comfortable with the people over here. The fans have always been very warm here and that’s why I thought it would be a more comfortable experience.”

On why he chose to be in the Philippines just before he goes on leave?

Archuleta revealed, “For me, when it comes to liking any place, it always has to do with the people. In any place, that’s what I remember the most especially here in the Philippines where the people are just very gracious and very friendly and just simple as well. And that’s very neat. Every time I’m here, it’s always been just a really great and amazing experience.

“Usually, I’d do something that I really love and that I’m used to and am comfortable with, like singing. But when it came to this new experience of acting to this extent, that’s when I felt that—even in the past when I would say, ‘no, I don’t know. I’m not ready for that yet’—I’d feel comfortable doing it here. I think it’s also very special that I get to do it before I do leave for two years.”

 When asked about what he thinks of the Department of Tourism’s newly launched slogan, “It’s more fun in the Philippines,” Archuleta quickly replied, “Yeah, I could say that. It’s always a blast for me when I come here. “

Archuleta said he’s looking forward to another great time especially since he’ll be working with actors his age. At the airport, Jasmine and Eula welcomed the singer. “I got to talk to them and I look forward to getting to work with them. They were very nice. It’ll be fun to work with people my age. I’ve always wanted to do that. It’s a fun energy to have.”

Archuleta will be in town for three weeks. According to Intalan, shooting will be done mostly in Manila and in nearby areas like Batangas. Meanwhile, Archuleta says that although he has a tight schedule, he’ll also make sure he gets to enjoy his time being in the country. “I’m looking forward to try more of the Filipino cuisine,” he says, remembering the foods he enjoyed in his previous visits, “Tokwa’t baboy. Sisig, which is yummy.” And “Papaitan. It was good.” As well as taking another jeepney ride—he can’t forget the jeep with Disney characters that he rode in.

After filming Nandito Ako, Archuleta is all set to depart to the assigned place for his missionary work. But fans, he says, need not be disheartened. “I’m not just going to leave like that. I’ll still be making songs. I want to make sure that I will still be giving something to my fans. Two years goes by too fast, it’s been four years since American idol. It’s a part of my life and it’s an important decision that I’ve always wanted to do with my life. Certainly, there are projects already lined up that I’ll be doing when I get back.”

David Archuleta has been hard at work ever since he got the boot on American Idol. But this year he is hoping to find himself between his concerts. Thus he relaunched his website with a new look and feel to help make that more possible.

David who released an album last year, has not had much time off and is now taking his time. Or at least that is what he told the Salt Lake Tribune about what he is doing. He said that he wants to find himself better musically before he makes a new album. He wants to be able to sing more emotionally “drive” songs than he has. Basically he wants to grow up and out of his former teen self that we all have seen for the past few years. He did not say when we should expect new stuff from him, but that he is working hard at becoming the singer he wants to be.

I think we all had to expect this at one point. Who he was when he was on Idol is not the same person. He is 20 now and yes, he also wants to be an actual serious singer. Sometimes I think that must be one of the hardest parts about starting out so young. It cannot be easy to break off from that person the media loves. At least we do get to see his new site and have something new involving him. Maybe one day he will make another video as well? That would at least help fill the Archuleta void for a while.
